ISHR - Advocacy Training Assistant
DESCRIPTIF MISSION
ISHR is an independent, non-profit organization with offices in Geneva and New York. This experience offers a unique opportunity to view the United Nations human rights system at work. It provides hands-on experience working for an international non-governmental organization (NGO) as well as the opportunity to contribute to our work supporting human rights defenders, strengthening human rights systems, building and leading human rights coalitions, and responding to significant and systemic human rights concerns. The Advocacy Training Assistant will apply and develop a range of training skills through practical exposure to the daily activities of a human rights NGO.
Responsibilities and duties include (we adapt according to the profile):
Supporting the on-going hybrid training activities of ISHR
- Assisting the training and advocacy support manager in organizing ISHR capacity-development activities targeted to human rights defenders in a wide range of countries.
- Supporting the organization of our annual hybrid-flagship training, the Human Rights Defender Advocacy Programme, from call to application to evaluation.
- Setting-up lesson plans, facilitation guides and other relevant training guidance based on the curriculum.
- Monitoring participants’ progress and analyzing trends.
- Communicating with learners through different channels and if appropriate, co-facilitated sessions.
- Proofread training document and providing critical feedback according to the learners-centered methodology.
- Researching countries and contexts, human rights situation in order to better identifying the audience needs.
- Assisting with visualizations and updating information material such as web pages or brochures.
- Documenting ISHR’s training database with existing tools and ensuring a proper achieving.
Developing new pedagogical tools and enhancing e-learning platform
- Updating the LMS of the ISHR Academy, our open access e-learning platform
- Ensuring information on the training programmes is up-to-date and responds to queries from defenders
- Uploading relevant modules, documents and creating new courses
- Monitoring trends and tendencies in the e-learning sectors and making proposals to optimize ISHR’s e-learning management
The applicant will also be required to perform the following:
- Database management;
- Administration support and budget management;
- Translation and proofreading.
Profil recherché
Requirements:
- Degree or diplomas in the field of education, teaching, international relations, human rights or similar.
- Diploma, certificate or interest in training the trainers, education, experience also accepted.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English (professional level fluency). French and/or Spanish are a strong advantage.
- Excellent IT skills including a good command of Word, Excel and Powerpoint; and ideally, experience with learning management systems.
- Excellent social skills and ability to multitask. Strong ability to work independently, meticulously and in a structured way. Very good organisational and time-management skills, ability to meet deadlines.
- Desire to acquire experience working in a multicultural, inclusive environment and interest in the work of a human rights NGO.
Additional Skills:
ISHR is particularly interested in candidates who also have the following skills or experiences:
- Interest in human rights.
- Appetite for communication tools such as social media, video editing etc.
Languages :
- Have an excellent level of written and spoken English;
- Preferred additional languages Spanish and/or French preferred.
